As I am about to leave for the airport I really don't have a lot of time to respond to this or think much about it, so this is pretty much just a gut reaction. But in a nutshell, while you ultimately may be right (although I kinda doubt it) you are certainly very premature. Microsoft still has the predominant market share and will for the foreseeable future. They have shown that they have to be dragged kicking and screaming into new paradigms such as you are mentioning.

But worse, there is no security on the client-side, and as long as that is true it doesn't matter how slick or convenient you make the browser you still need a strong server side component. Now it might diminish or shrink, but I have a hard time believe that all the presentation will move to the client.

The strong architectural parallel between mozilla and cocoon, makes me very hopeful in the future of mozilla as a platform, even if there are years ahead of polishing to do.

But as a researcher, a scientist and one that likes to push the edge, I sense that cocoon is kinda 'done', not as in "finished, passe'", but more as in "been there, done that".

Sure, lots of things to polish and little things to continue to improve, but I wonder if the action is somewhere else.

How do you feel about this?
